Three Biology graduate students, Andre Naranjo (P. Soltis Lab), Jenna Moore (Paulay Lab) and Pat Milligan (Palmer Lab) have been awarded National Science Foundation grants to support their post-doctoral research.  Andre Naranjo received his award from the NSF Interdisciplinary Research Using Biological Collections Program to study spatial, functional and phylogenetic diversity of vascular plants in Hispaniola.  Jenna Moore also received an award from the NSF Research Using Biological Collections Program and will be working at Dauphin Island Sea Lab on the morphology, biomechanics and evolution of marine worms.  Patrick Milligan received an NSF International Post-doctoral Award to study the physiological and epigenetic mechanisms used by plants to regulate mutualistic interactions with symbionts using the acacia-ant symbiosis in Kenya.
