Congratulations to Jose Miguel Ponciano, who was awarded a 4-year grant from the NIH to study the diversity and stability of microbial communities. The long-term goal of this work is to identify the fundamental biological processes responsible for the complex microbial community dynamics of the vaginal microbiome, and the mechanisms that lead to community type shifts.
