Keith Choe, Assistant Professor of Biology has been selected this year’s UF Teacher of the Year! One of the highest honors bestowed by the University upon its faculty. Peter Houlihan has been awarded a 2014 Waitt Grant from the National Geographic Society. This is a wonderful grant that will support $12,000 of his research on the evolution and behavior of Darwin’s hawkmoth and orchids in Africa. Congratulations Peter!

Francisa Leal has been named HHMI International Student Research Fellow. Last Fall, departments and colleges held internal competitions to select nominees for the University-wide competition. Finalists were then nominated to HHMI for the national competition. Sixty-one institutions nominated 377 students, of which 42 were selected. What a wonderful honor. Congratulations Francisca!
