Department of Biology, PhD graduate Caitlin Campbell published a new study in Ecology Letters focused on the migration patterns of bats and their relationship with wind turbines. Bats with more complex migratory patterns are more likely to interact with wind energy facilities.
The work was performed in the lab of the Department’s Associate Professor Hannah Vander Zanden, who uses stable isotope data to track the bat migration patterns, not in real time, but from the past movements of the mammals. The work has implications for the conservation of flying mammals in a changing world.
