Biology assistant professor Ana Longo has been awarded a new research grant from the National Science Foundation entitled “Defining the role of skin microbiomes in defense against chytridiomycosis in frogs with seasonal infections.”  The research will be conducted in collaboration with colleagues from Vanderbilt University and the University of Puerto Rico.   The study addresses the defense mechanisms used by frogs against a skin fungus that has been associated with global amphibian declines.
